Pediatric Dentistry is one of the nine
recognized dental specialties of the American Dental Association (ADA).
Pediatric dentists are specialists dedicated to the oral health of
children and other patients with special health care needs. After the
required four years of dental school, pediatric dentists complete two to
three years of additional specialized training, which includes study in
child psychology, growth and development. This training allows them to
provide the most up-to-date treatment for children's dental needs.
Before practicing in Tuscon, Drs. Bunch and
Marshall practiced full-time in Washington state. In addition to practicing
children’s dentistry, they have a strong commitment to education and
community service. While practicing in the Northwest, Drs. Bunch and
Marshall have taught part-time in the Dept. of Pediatric Dentistry at
the UW Dental School and Dr. Bunch served on Skagit and Island
Counties’ Head Start Healthcare Committee. They were also representatives
of the University of Washington’s Program on improving dental care for
underprivileged children through the ABCD Program, and have been working
to bring the benefits of water fluoridation to Skagit County children.
Dr. Bunch was born and raised in Tucson,
Arizona. While growing up he spent many days after school and during
vacations in his father’s dental office. From the time he was a small
child, he wanted to be a dentist. His first step in this process was
attending Tulane University in New Orleans to study molecular biology.
After studying at Tulane, he was selected to attend the University of
Washington School of Dentistry for his DDS degree. He received his
Pediatric Dental Specialty training at University Iowa School of
Dentistry in Iowa City, Iowa. In addition to his specialty in Pediatric
Dentistry, he completed his Master’s of Science in Dental Public Health
Science at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Marshall was born and raised in Jerome,
Idaho. Her family has a long history in the potato industry. She is a
graduate of Idaho State University and earned her DDS degree from the
University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Marshall practiced
general dentistry for 3 years before receiving her Pediatric Dental
Specialty training at the University of Washington Department of
Pediatric Dentistry.
While in dental school, Dr. Bunch received the
Seattle Pediatric Dentists’ Society Dr. David B. Law Award, the UW
Dental School Johnny N. Johnson Leadership Award, and the American
Student Dental Association’s Leadership Award. During his residency, he
received the W. Philip Phair Graduate Dental Public Health Research
Award.
While in dental school, Dr. Marshall received multiple awards for her
research in jaw growth. In addition, she received the UW School of
Dentistry Governance and Service Award and the American Society of
Dentistry for Children Award, among others. During her residency, she
was Chief Resident.
Their memberships in dental organizations

Drs. Bunch and Marshall married in the summer
of 2005 and have a son, William. They enjoy the challenges and rewards of practicing pediatric
dentistry. Their goals are to contribute to a generation of children who
enjoy going to the dentist and who will reap the benefits of good
childhood dental experiences throughout their lifetime.
