Traveling, Kids, and Dental Health

The summer’s coming up, and that means many of our patients will be taking trips.  Just because your normal routine has changed doesn’t mean your dental routine should!  Here’s some tips to stay on top of dental hygiene while on the road:

  • Brush at the beginning and ending of each day.  No matter what happens in the middle of your crazy day, you can also brush first thing in the morning and right before bedtime at the hotel.
  • Pack plenty of floss.  Don’t give up flossing just because you’re not at home.
  • Have your child pick a special toothbrush.  Brushing can seem like a chore on the road, but bringing a special toothbrush might make brushing seem like part of the magic of vacation.
  • Choose water when you can.  It may be tempting to drink lots of juice and soda while traveling, but try to limit your child’s intake to more than 6 oz. of these liquids each day.
