When Should My Child See an Orthodontist?

As your pediatric dentists in Tucson, we handle many of your child’s dental needs.  If your kid needs braces, however, you must see an orthodontist to correct those issues.  When does this occur?

The answer really will depend on your child, but as a general rule, many children can wait until all permanent teeth have come in before beginning orthodontic therapy. This usually occurs at around 10 to 13 years of age.  However, there are some specific cases in which a child could benefit from orthodontic intervention as early as 5 years of age.   We will help you navigate this process by keeping an eye on your child’s teeth and providing recommendations based on our experience.

As your child’s pediatric dentist in Tucson, we want to serve all your child’s dental needs.  If you have any questions for our office, feel free to call us at (520) 544-8522.
