How to Cavity-Proof your Child's Teeth

Many children receive cavities, but your child doesn't have to be one of them.  Here are some ways to reduce your child's risk of cavities:

  • Brush twice a day.  There's a reason pediatric dentists love to give kids toothbrushes.  Brushing twice a day helps reduce many dental ailments, including cavities.
  • Floss once a day.  Flossing helps get in between your teeth where the toothbrush can't go, so it's important to have a daily routine of flossing.
  • Limit sugary snacks and drinks.   Food and drinks high in sugar cause the most cavities, so limiting them is not only good for your body as a whole, but also for your teeth.
  • Make sure your child gets enough fluoride.  Drinking water and toothpaste can contain fluoride to fight cavities.  We can help you determine if your child needs a fluoride supplement.
