"Painting" Your Child's Teeth: Fluoride

If your child has come into our office, you may have heard us talking about "painting" your child's teeth.  You may wonder what we're talking about and why we call it "painting."

We are not, of course, actually painting your child's teeth a particular color.  What we are doing is applying fluoride varnish to the teeth.  Fluoride is a pediatric dentist's top disease prevention technique.  Studies have shown that fluoride can significantly reduce cavities in young children.  As strong believers of prevention, we want to reduce your child's risk of developing harmful dental problems.

We call this process "painting" teeth because it's something that any kid, even a toddler, can understand.  By using non-scary words to discuss our procedures, we aim to make your child's visit to our office a pleasant one.  We want them to be excited to come see the dentist.

As your child's pediatric dentist in Tucson, we want to keep your child's smile healthy.  If you have any questions for our office, feel free to call us at (520) 544-8522.
