Best Pediatric Dental Practices During COVID-19

March 10th, 2021

Many of our patients and families have questions about how we've changed our routines due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It's a good question that we've spent almost a year thinking about and refining. We take our families' health very seriously, and we've taken every precaution to ensure you will have a safe experience in our office.

Some of the ways we've minimized the risk of COVID-19 at our dental practice include:

  • Seeing fewer patients: We've reduced our patient load so that we can maintain social distancing and less people inside our office at a given time.
  • More frequent, thorough cleaning: While we've always been strict about sanitizing our office, we increased the number of times we clean throughout the building, especially where families may interact.
  • Strict screening: We screen everyone who comes through our door every day, staff and families alike. We will re-schedule any patient we feel is has an elevated risk of having COVID-19.
  • Advanced air filtration: True-HEPA filtration systems are placed throughout our office for maximum coverage.
  • And lots more: You can read our full list of best pediatric dental practices we follow here.

Northwest Children's Dentistry is Now Open

May 26th, 2020

Due to COVID-19, Northwest Children's Dentistry closed in March on the recommendation of the American Dental Association.  Now that we know more about the virus and can take extra precautions, we are reopening May 26, 2020.

That doesn't mean we think the threat of COVID-19 is over. We've taken many precautions to keep both your patients and our staff safe. Here is just a sample of what we have done to reduce the risk of transmission at our office:

  • Everyone (including patients, families, and staff) are required to wear masks.  This will help us reduce the amount of potential exposure in the air.  If you forget to bring a mask, we are happy to provide one for you.
  • We will clean our facilities more thoroughly and more often. While our pediatric dental office already had strict cleaning procedures in place, we will be increasing our cleaning and sterilization procedures throughout the day.
  • We've improved our building facilities.  True-HEPA filtration systems have been installed.  More dividers will be put in place to keep people from being in contact with others.

For a full list of new policy procedures and changes, please read our COVID-19 information page.

Maintaining Dental Routines during COVID-19

April 13th, 2020

It is a difficult time for most families right now. Many people (our dental office included) has lost a significant amount of work, which could result in lost pay. On the other hand, some essential workers in health care, retail, and logistics might be experiencing a surge of work at a time where they're not sure they're safe. It is a truly a unique and unpredictable point in global history.

We certainly don't want to overload you with even more stress as the corona virus changes our daily lives. Self-care is very important not only for children, but the families who take care of them. That's why we offer these quick, easy solutions for maintaining your child's dental health during this time:

  • Continue brushing at least twice a day. Maintaining a morning and evening brushing routine will help keep a semblance of normalcy in your kids' lives.
  • Floss once a day. Choose either the morning or night routine and floss beforehand.
  • Eat healthy and exercise where possible. Don't worry about a rigorous diet or a strenuous workout routine, but small things like snacking on fruits and vegetables where possible and going on a long walk while keeping six-feet away from others will improve your overall well-being.
  • Call our office if you have a dental emergency. Our phone number remains open: (520) 544-8522. We may not be open for routine and optional visits, but we can certainly help if your child needs us immediately.

As your child's pediatric dentist in Tucson, we want to keep your child's smile healthy.  If you have any questions for our office, feel free to call us at (520) 544-8522.
