Children and Toothaches

January 14th, 2019

Veteran parents generally have a good idea of what to do when a child catches a cold or has a fever.  However, they may not know what to do if a child has a toothache.

First, if the child’s face is swollen, apply a cold compress and contact Northwest Children's Dentistry, your Tucson pediatric dentist, immediately.

However, if the child is complaining about a mild toothache, clean the affected tooth thoroughly. Rinse the child’s mouth with warm water or use dental floss to dislodge any food in the gums. DO NOT place aspirin or heat on the gums or on the aching tooth.

If pain persists, contact us.

As your child's pediatric dentist in Tucson, we want to serve all your child's dental needs.  If you have any questions for our office, feel free to call us at (520) 544-8522.

How to Handle a Child's Toothache

May 30th, 2013

As parents, we're used to dealing with all sorts of minor ailments: low grade fevers, runny noses, and minor scrapes.  However, you may not have had experience on what to do when a child gets a toothache.

First clean the affected tooth thoroughly by either rinsing the child’s mouth with warm water or using dental floss to dislodge any food in the gums. DO NOT place aspirin or heat on the gums or on the aching tooth.

If pain persists, contact your pediatric dentist. If the child’s face is swollen, apply a cold compress and contact your pediatric dentist immediately.

As your pediatric dentist in Tucson, we want to help you take care of all your child's dental  needs.  Feel free to call us and ask us questions anytime.
